Optimize Your Life with Wellness Coaching

Health and wellness are topics that often fall to the wayside once the semester is in full throttle. Health Initiatives is offering group wellness coaching this fall to help YOU take control again and find meaningful ways to reach your health goals. There are six wellness coaching groups offered this fall beginning Monday, Sept. 17, to help you optimize your life. These small groups have limited space and registration is required.

Wellness coaching uses self-discovery and reflection to better understand what your personal strengths are and how you can apply these to be the best version of yourself. Some areas of exploration may include fitness, sleep, time management, organization, future aspirations, relationships and healthy eating. This program is recommended for all students — undergraduate or graduate — who want to make changes in their lives through discussion and reflection.

Coaches are not experts who analyze problems, give advice, or prescribe solutions. Rather, coaches encourage personal responsibility so participants use reflective thinking, self-discovery, and self-efficacy to discover their full potential. The coaching sessions are dictated by whatever participants want to discuss during the session.

To get the coaching started we compiled a list of quotes to help you start thinking about your approach to wellness differently.

Don’t just let us tell you how great it is, the experts already know…

“The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.” —Aristotle

It’s important to start thinking of our bodies as one holistic unit. Everything you do affects this unit. Imagine a world where your body was firing on all cylinders all the time…oh, what you could accomplish! Wellness coaching provides you the space to look internally and discover what areas you feel need improvement while also celebrating your strengths and how both work together.

“If you focus on results, you will never change. If you focus on change, you will get results.” —Jack Dixon

In order to reach your goals, you may have to take that big scary first step of making a change. Changing the way you think and deciding to act is how you start. You reach goals and see results by committing to changes and working through the challenges. Wellness coaching is the first leap into the unknown that you can take towards your path of holistic wellness.

“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.” —Henry S. Haskins

You have everything you need to be successful inside of you, wellness coaching just helps you better understand your strengths to reach your health and wellness goals.

“Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live.” —Jim Rohn

Your body truly is a wonderland. The effort you put in today will reward you in the future. You only get one body, so don’t waste it! Let wellness coaching take you on the journey of self-discovery to honor the one and only body you have been given.
