Health Initiatives provides a variety of nutrition-related programs, presentations, and events every semester. Learn about how to build a healthy plate in the dining locations across campus, navigate the grocery store, and make the most of the seasonal flavors. The team can also bring pre-planned or custom experiences to your next meeting or class. 

Flavorful Fridays

Once a month, the Health Initiatives' dietitians will be in the Student Center healthy space to showcase different flavors of the season. Try new flavors with samples, learn new recipes, and get some healthy tips from the dietitians.

January 11th, 11 am New Year, New Eats -Enjoy something new to you! Will feature a recipe inspired by our dietitian. 

February 15th, 11 am Winter Warmups - It’s cold outside! Stop by to learn how to make a hearty winter soup.

March 8th, 11 am Satisfying Snacks - Come enjoy snacks that are satisfying to you! Do you prefer sweet or savory?  

April 12th, 11 am Spring Sprouts - Spring is in the Air! -learn how you can utilize local spring produce! ‚Äč

National Nutrition Month

Join us for National Nutrition month all March long! Focus on choosing foods that are satisfying to you and each of your senses. Set aside the shoulds and the should nots and consider taste, texture, aroma, temperature, appearance, volume and choose what will be most satisfying to you. Research shows that choosing the foods that are most satisfying to you is positively correlated with higher well-being.

Health Initiatives offers pre-planned and custom presentation experiences for employees and students. Our pre-planned presentations include:

  • Nutrition 101:  This session introduces the basic concepts of nutrition and wellness through an interactive game designed to debunk common nutrition myths
  • Eating on a Budget:  This session explores how to eat well while managing the balance between time and money. 
  • Body Image and Disordered Eating:  Learn more about society’s and our own influences on body image, and how it can affect self-worth, eating, and activity habits.  *Trigger warning- Disordered eating diagnoses are explored and described, and resources for seeking help are provided.
  • Intuitive Eating: This session introduces the 10 principles of Intuitive Eating. Designed for individuals wishing to explore and discuss their relationship with food, dieting and/or body image.

Programs are a minimum of 45 minutes.
