Developing a healthy relationship with one’s body is a key component to achieving optimal wellness. Body Positivity involves the acceptance and appreciation of all bodies regardless of shape, size, age, race, or gender. This includes understanding that you can live comfortably in your body as it is in this moment. Key components of developing a healthy body image include prioritizing nourishment, movement, and self-care.
You can start practicing body positivity by listening to your body and honoring its individual needs. Be sure to eat when you are hungry and rest when you are tired. In addition, practice regular physical activity and self-care that you enjoy. This could include going for a walk, taking a bath, spending time with friends, or participating in a group fitness class. Instead of focusing on physical weight, focus on your unique qualities and talents. Be sure to treat your body as a friend.
